Cusp of Change
On the cusp of change I remind myself to breathe here and now.
It feels as if in any moment everything I know will slip away and suddenly be completely different.
Perhaps, it will be, for aren’t we always simply on the edge of change?
Tipping towards the cavern of the unknown;
Staring into the abyss of all the difference?
And yet, here we are
Right here in this precise moment—
Where all the unknown is not quite yet but also just right there.
Change is subtly shifting beneath us.
In the confidence you feel about the decisions you make;
The little everyday things you add in with consistency;
The things that you subtract when you discover they are no longer serving you.
Until you look back and see, oh how so much has changed, even when you never felt yourself moving at all.
So here you are, right in the present, always floating on the cusp of change.
What do we do ?
We pause, take a breath, and keep moving.
Keep living life present, aware, awake, and alive.
Counting the blessings of the fresh newness of a crisp, cleansing breath on a chilly winter day.
Attuning yourself to the chirping of the birds.
Standing in awe beneath the blue of a clear sky after a winter storm.
And being grateful for this moment, right here, right now.
Alive, aware, and awake to the sheer fact that we are always on the cusp of change.
Thank goodness for that.
Amen.
