Meet Margaret

Welcome! I am so glad that you have stopped by to my sacred online space, The Versatile Girl. I began this blog in 2014 while I was in college. What started as one of those trendy fashion blogs turned into something I could not have imagined—an online space filled with my ponderings, wanderings, and thoughts on living a life of faith, God, books, and being me.

You will find an assortment of things here with some major time gaps in between. At one point, insecure and lost, I almost scrapped The Versatile Girl for something that seemed more mature until I came to my senses and realized that this space holds something so dear to me, my story. If I zoom out and look at The Versatile Girl I find bits and pieces of my heart scattered across this online domain and I can trace my fingers upon the ways God has woven together my story. Living a life of faith is one filled with twists and turns, ups and down and to be honest, I think it is about time I just give into the fact that I am never going to know what to expect next.I am an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church USA and freshly a member at large in a Presbytery. I have recently left my calling at a hospital in Charleston, SC to answer the calling our family has had to relocate to Virginia. My husband is a physician and upon finishing his training we have answered the calling to relocate for him to begin his first attendingship.

I have two masters, a Master of Letters in Modern History from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. Here in this space, you will find an assortment of writings that have facilitated the processing of both those major events, along with everything in between and beyond.

I am married to a wonderful man, Will, and we live in Virginia.

Pull up a chair, grab a cup of tea, a cookie or a slice of cake, and stay a while. For all are truly welcome here.

All my love, Margaret
