St. Patrick’s Day Joys

  • Wearing my sage green sweater

  • Saving then finally getting to wear my bright spring colored blouse, worn with my sage green cardigan

  • The joy my homemade cake pops brought others

  • Light green colored white chocolate and sprinkles to coat the cake pops—the colors were just so happy

  • Getting to bless the food at a gathering of people I am grateful to have in my life

  • Getting to break bread with others

  • Receiving a lovely and touching note

  • A warm and sunny afternoon

  • Feeling the sun warm on my face

  • Having a good appointment with a new doctor

  • Will’s head on my shoulder and my head resting on his head

  • Knowing tomorrow is Friday

  • The look of joy on a dog’s face as she runs speedy fast to catch a ball

Many days I get late into the evening and I don’t want to sit down and write something—I don’t know what brought me joy and don’t really want to think about it. But isn’t that the point of this practice? To encourage and invite me into relying on God in a new way. I find that I am often tired and a voice in my head, that is so tempting to listen to, tells me this practice doesn’t matter and that this work really isn’t that big of a deal.

The only way to silence that voice is to do the work and to show up for myself, allowing God to meet me where I am and remind me where I caught glimpses of God throughout the day.

And, the weekend is coming! AKA—sleeping in without an alarm!
